The elegant and beautiful Waling-waling of the Philippines
is one of the most beautiful and largest orchid flowers in the world. It is hailed as the “Queen of Philippine Flowers” and worshipped as ‘diwata’ (fairy) by Bagobo people. It is native to Mindanao and occurs in the provinces of Davao, Cotabato and Zamboanga. Due to over-collection, Waling-waling is very rare in nature. This beautiful orchid is frequently used in hybridization.
